Cambridge’s Swiss Laundry warehouses and tannery, reimagined as 50,000ft2 of sophisticated R&D and office space.

Old Swiss is the place for innovation.

The Swiss Laundry was a South Cambridge landmark for over a century. Lovingly revived by our team of local designers, its classic red brickwork now fuses with the best contemporary materials.

Old Swiss meets the new

Once, you’d come here to get your tablecloths done. Today, this CB1 location is the last word in high-spec workplaces for info-driven businesses.

But we don’t forget our heritage. It’s still Old Swiss.

Cambridge was a very different city back in 1887. Old Swiss, your tech hub, was once a tannery beside a cattle market. In 1904, that tannery became a laundry and endured for 115 years.

Messrs Chapman and Goundry, founders of Old Swiss Laundry, must have known they were laying the groundwork for the future. We’re pleased to report the business is still going in a village just outside the city.

That leaves us as custodians of the Old Swiss site, where we’re also building for tomorrow. Its location makes it a magnet for business; 15 minutes’ walk from Cambridge Station, 25 minutes by bike to the Science Park, 30 by car to Stanstead Airport.

Once you get here, you’ll like what we’ve done with the place. There’s the same traditional chimney, same time-honoured layout and Cambridge Gault brickwork, now accentuated by higher ceilings, mezzanines, and floods of natural night.

With high-spec desk space, meeting areas and breakout zones, we’re designing a setting where everyone wants to work.

Work hard + play local

Cambridge is more than simply a place to work. It’s a hub of global culture, offering timeless ways to enjoy yourself.

Punting along the River Cam and touring the historic colleges is a consistent source of pleasure. As you’d expect, the University attracts the cream of the art, music, and theatre worlds. Film festivals, live local gigs, and comedy nights round off a grand cultural offering.

In fact, Old Swiss is five minutes from Cambridge Junction. This vibrant venue has hosted era-defining British bands like Blur, as well as giving a regular platform to up-and-coming local bands.

Enough to work up an appetite, right? There are hundreds of pubs, restaurants, and cafes to help you with that. Cherry Hinton Road, right on our doorstep, has everything you need to satisfy hungry stomachs.

And when you’re done, your shopping options here are better than many cities twice this size. But it’s also easy to stay active in Cambridge. Gyms, tennis courts, parkland, and numerous routes to escape into the English countryside make this the best place in the UK to hop on your bike.
